With Its Classic Good Looks, It’s Tough To Tell This Is Even a Smartwatch
Frederique Constant’s strength in the smartwatch market is its background and expertise in offering the look and feel of traditional Swiss luxury watches. The market is full of examples of smartwatches that seem like techy gadgets, but the brand’s “Horological Smartwatch” is refined and largely analog, so it won’t be obvious to onlookers that it’s quietly whispering to the smartphone in your pocket. For Spring 2019, fresh new colors underscore the collection’s elegant designs.
Airy gray and blue dials with radially brushed finishes join the collection in 42mm steel cases water-resistant to 50m. Consistent with the expectations of luxury watch consumers, features include sapphire crystal and lumed dial elements. Pairing with a smartphone and the Frederique Constant Smartwatch app, the watch offers common connected features like world time, activity tracking, sleep monitoring, alerts, and more. That sub-dial at 6 o’clock shows the date, but also, using another hand and 1-100 scale, the percentage of progress toward the wearer’s activity goal set via the app. Both new models come on leather straps and have a price of $995.
