Here's What We Know So Far

It’s Official: This Is the Google Pixel 4

June 13, 2019 Tech By

After several leaked renderings, Google just bit the bullet yesterday and officially tweeted a photo of the Pixel 4, its next flagship smartphone. The tweet came as a surprise because the company isn’t expected to officially announce the Pixel 4 until this October, so the photo came about four months early. You can see the tweet below.

It’s just a photo, obviously, and we’re going to have to wait until the Pixel’s official announcement to “see what it can do” as well as what the screen will look like, but the photo does confirm a few things that we already knew about the Pixel 4. It will have a square camera bump and a dual camera system for the first time — previously, Pixel 3’s single rear camera was able to outperform nearly every smartphone with a dual-camera system.

Releasing an early photo of the Pixel 4 could actually work in Google’s favor. For one, it actually proves that it’s not copying the design (square camera bump) of the iPhone 11, which was scheduled to be announced before the Pixel 4. It also might mean that Google could officially release the Pixel 4 before October.
