These Bold New G-Shocks Bring a ’90s Urban Vibe

July 18, 2019 Watches By

G-Shock not only continually expands upon its existing models, but regularly adds to its lines and collections with designs that go further than new colors. The newly introduced GA140 line builds upon the GA100 and GA110 watches with a similar bold case but new design for its hands and dial. The theme is meant to conjure images of 1990s streetwear styles and instruments, such as boomboxes.

The new dials aim to provide a sense of visual depth and three-dimensionality, and G-Shock has done this well in the past, particularly on its analog and ana-digi hybrid dislpay watches. There should be sufficient room for 3D elements on the dial since the cases are typically chunky — as always, however, the plastic construction and quartz movements keep G-Shocks generally light and comfortable on the wrist. They feature the same tech as previous GA100-family watches, including an analog speed indicator at 3 o’clock.

Debuting in five color variations, each will be available for a price of $99 and make for great casual summer style accessories — that happen to feature a range of useful functions as well.
