Now You Can Own the Clothing Pro Cyclists Wish They Could Wear

Like most professional athletes, cyclists are at the mercy of their sponsors when it comes to the gear they use during races. And while bikes don’t provide much physical space for brands to slather with logos, the back and front of a jersey, and the outer thigh of a bib do. With all the advertising art, you might not have noticed, for instance, that the kit worn by Egan Bernal as he crossed the finish line in Paris to win the 2019 Tour de France — and become the first Colombian rider to do so — was made by Castelli. Pro riders don’t get to choose what they ride in. With that idea in mind, Velocio set out to make the highest-end cycling apparel possible; the stuff that the elite riders would wear if only they could.

The new kit is called the Concept Collection, and Velocio sums it up as “the best iteration of a kit we can make with the intention of fast riding.” The company utilized top-line fabrics and body-mapped construction to make clothing that’s as aerodynamic and comfortable as possible. The collection includes a jersey and bib shorts for both men and women, with features like laser-cut perforations for venting and pockets that don’t sag. The bib is the standout of the two, with a chamois pad that’s integrated into the shorts in such a way as to reduce seams and chafing zones and better conform to the body in a riding position.
