And new size options to boot
Samsung’s Galaxy Active Watch Is Back With LTE and a Heart Rate Monitor
In April, Samsung released its Galaxy Active Watch, that we found to be a great grab for anyone who has an Android phone, runs on the regular, and likes to listen to Spotify while they do it. Now, Samsung’s spilled the details on its successor, the Galaxy Active Watch 2 which will sport a few upgrades, including an LTE flavor and heart rate monitoring (eventually).
Unlike the original Active Watch, the Active Watch 2 will come in 40 and 44mm sizes, and Bluetooth and LTE varieties, but thanks to its ability to cache Spotify playlists if you’re a premium subscriber, LTE is hardly mandatory for the watch to be useful even without your phone. In addition to the LTE option, the Active Watch 2 will also have ECG capabilities much like the Apple Watch, but since it still needs FDA approval, this feature won’t be available right at launch.
The Active Watch 2 is available September 27th starting at $279, but Samsung is continuing to sell the original Active Watch alongside it for the lower price of $200.
