The Most Reliable Car Brands and Their Most Reliable Cars

August 15, 2019 Cars By

You just bought a brand-new car, so you should have thousands of trouble-free miles ahead of you, right? Well, that might be true, depending on which car you’re driving away in. Consumer Reports recently checked in on more than 500,000 vehicles owned by CR members for its Annual Auto Survey. Of the 29 manufacturers included, there are some movers and shakers worth pointing out.

Toyota and Lexus swapped spots in the top two slots, but seeing as how Lexus technically is Toyota, it’s still just Toyota making some of the most dependable cars on the market. Mazda jumped up a grand total of nine spots from last year’s survey after addressing the gremlins in the CX-9 and Mazda MX-5 Miata and, in the process, made the little roadster the manufacturer’s most reliable car. (Just another reason to love it.)

Enough with the highlights. These are the top five most reliable car manufacturers and their most reliable models according to Consumer Reports.

1: Lexus

Most Reliable Car: GX

2: Toyota

Most Reliable Car: Prius C

3: Mazda

Most Reliable Car: MX-5 Miata

4: Subaru

Most Reliable Car: Crosstrek

5: Kia

Most Reliable Car: Sedona
