The music world has the Grammys, the film world has the Academy Awards, and the watch world has the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), which is given an acronym so that Americans can pronounce it.

Yesterday, the pre-selected watches that are up for 18 prizes at the GPHG were announced, including contenders for the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix, which rewards “contemporary watchmaking excellence.” (84 watches are up for awards in 14 categories, with six finalists in each category.) The GPH jury is international and composed of 30 experts from the horological world, with two rounds of voting conducted via secret ballot, and winners will be announced on Thursday, November 7th 2019, at the 19th GPHG Awards Ceremony in Geneva.

While we can’t recount every single timepiece up for consideration, here are five cool contenders that you’ll no doubt recognize from our coverage of SIHH and Baselworld this year:

Defy El Primero Double Tourbillon by Zenith Men’s Complication Category

Traditionelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar by Vacheron Constantin Mechanical Exception Category

Spring Drive Manual Winding Platinum by Grand Seiko Men’s Category

Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin by Audemars Piguet Iconic Category

Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar by Audemars Piguet Calendar and Astronomy Category
