To date, one of the biggest gripes with Sonos speakers was that the could only stream Spotify if you were a paying, Premium subscriber. Considering that Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services on the planet, with 248 million monthly users, and less than half of them are actually Premium subscribers — this has been a stumbling block for a whole ton of people.

As of today, and as first reported by The Verge, Sonos has added Spotify Free streaming support to all its speakers. This means that if you don’t want to pay the monthly fee and are OK with hearing ads between your tracks, you can now listen to your favorite tracks or podcasts on any Sonos speaker. All you have to do is make sure your Sonos speakers are updated with the latest software.

To update your Sonos speakers:
• Open the Sonos app
• Select Settings
• Select System
• Select System Updates
• Select Check for Updates.
• (Pro tip: select Update Automatically so you never have to go through this process again.)
