These Affordable Dive Watches Come in Six Sleek New Versions

December 10, 2019 Watches By

The Italian microbrand Unimatic has had success with an interesting mixture of traditional tool watches and slick, minimalist design. With two dive-style collections that have already seen a range of variations, a total of six new models have just been announced for the 2020 collection. The year’s theme appears to be sober and handsome, with prices remaining characteristically approachable and each collection receiving slight tweaks from previous iterations.

Four of the new models are in the Modello Uno U1 collection, an automatic, capable diver. It’s got a simple Seiko NH35A automatic movement with 41 hours of power reserve, and Unimatic is now using a solid metal movement holder in an upgrade from the plastic one it had previously used.

The other two models are in the Modello Tre U3 collection and feature a chronograph powered by a Seiko VK64 Meca-Quartz movement. Both the Uno and the Tre have 300m of water-resistance, sapphire crystals, and 41.5mm-wide cases. They also both feature the bold hands and indices, along with a relatively stark dial that defines the Unimatic look. Note that the new watches have also foregone a date display, as is popular with many enthusiasts today.

The most recognizable brand feature, however, is present on the models with sterile bezels and only a lume pip, a signature, minimalist look of Unitmatic’s. The brand also offers models with more traditional bezel markings, which are no less attractive. There are Unos with each bezel style, each of which is also available in a fully black DLC-coated case or in bare steel. The two Modello Tre chronographs are in steel or black with the traditional bezel design.

Pricing ranges from ~$582 to ~$759 for the various models, each of which is available from Unimatic’s website.
