A Mark Levinson Original
This Is the Standout Turntable of CES 2020
Mark Levinson announced what is arguably the standout turntable of CES 2020. The No. 5105 is the company’s newest high-end turntable that, according to the company, has a completely original custom design. It’s mostly out of aluminum and glass and it just looks like it should be a showpiece for industrial design.
The turntable has a 14-pound solid aluminum platter, a 2-inch thick solid aluminum plinth, one-inch-thick aluminum front panels and aluminum Speed and Standby control buttons. As far as its sound is concerned, Harman Luxury Audio’s Jim Garrett says that the No. 5105 “delivers an amazing level of warmth and fidelity, and an overall listening experience that we have not seen before at this price point.”
So what is that price point? The No. 5105 will start at $6,000 without the factory-installed moving coil phono cartridge, and go to $7,000 for the model with the cartridge. It’s fairly expensive, for sure, but you’d expect that from a super-high-end audio company like Mark Levinson, whose target audience is the most decerning of audiophiles.
Both turntable models will be available this summer.
