In the words of Deion Sanders, “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”

All to say, Nike’s latest rendition of its former football shoe looks ready for a new round of contract negotiations around in the board room.

No wonder it basically looks like a dress shoe.

Now surfacing overseas, a new version of the Astrograbber first released in the 1970s adopts an upper made of full-grain leather that’s slightly burnished for subtle variations in color.

What’s more, the model also swaps out the traditional flat laces for small round ones that give it a uniquely polished look akin to a typical dress sneaker from Cole Haan or Allen Edmonds.

Round laces do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of elevating the sneaker into dress-shoe territory.

This isn’t Nike’s first experiment with the Astrograbber, which resurfaced in 2024 as part of a high-profile collaboration with Emily Adams Bode Aujla’s eponymous label Bode.

Previous releases have showcased uppers made from knitted fabric and even waxed canvas.

However, this rendition is easily the brand’s most refined yet, positioning the Astrograbber as one of the most fashion-forward silhouettes in its vast archive.
